Security Breaches at 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup Lead to Fine for Indonesia’s Football Federation

The Asian Football Confederation imposed financial penalties on the Football Association of Indonesia following two separate incidents during the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup. The total fine reached 14,000 US dollars, equivalent to roughly 235 million rupiah. Indonesia hosted the tournament from late January to early February 2026, with Iran eventually emerging as the champion.
The first case took place during Indonesia’s match against South Korea at Indonesia Arena on 27 January 2026. After reviewing the situation, the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee determined that several competition and disciplinary regulations had been violated. The breaches were linked to stadium access control and post-match security procedures.
According to the committee’s findings, an individual associated with the host side entered a restricted area without the required accreditation at the end of the match. In addition, a supporter managed to enter the playing surface after the game concluded. These incidents were considered evidence that the organizers had not fully implemented the security measures required to maintain order in and around the stadium.
For these violations, the Indonesian federation received multiple fines based on different regulatory articles, amounting to 11,000 US dollars. The governing body required the payment to be completed within 30 days in line with its disciplinary code, emphasizing the responsibility of host associations to ensure strict compliance with safety and organizational standards.
A second incident occurred during the match between Iran and Afghanistan at the Jakarta International Velodrome on 1 February 2026. In this case, five spectators entered the pitch while the match was still in progress, again highlighting shortcomings in crowd control. The AFC imposed an additional fine of 3,000 US dollars, bringing the total penalty to 14,000 US dollars and reinforcing the importance of effective stadium security throughout major international tournaments.
