Inter Push Ahead for Muharemovic as Defensive Overhaul Looms

Inter Milan are leading the race to sign Tarik Muharemovic, with Sassuolo reportedly open to selling the young defender for a fee of around €30 million in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The move is part of Inter’s broader plan to reshape their defensive line at the end of the season. The club is aiming to inject younger energy into the squad, signaling a shift away from reliance on experienced players who have formed the backbone of their defense in recent years.
Several senior figures, including Francesco Acerbi, Matteo Darmian, and Stefan de Vrij, are expected to depart from San Siro in June. Their potential exits have accelerated the club’s search for a long-term replacement capable of anchoring the defense for years to come.
Muharemovic, currently 23, has emerged as a prime candidate due to his growing reputation as one of Europe’s promising defensive talents. Despite being under contract until 2031, Sassuolo appear willing to negotiate, although the process is unlikely to be straightforward given the player’s value and potential.
Inter may also face strong competition from several Premier League clubs interested in securing the defender’s signature. Even so, the Nerazzurri remain confident about their position, believing they have a strong chance of completing the deal and strengthening their backline for the future.
