From Milan Misfire to Spanish Opportunity: Füllkrug Linked with Fresh Start at Getafe
Niclas Füllkrug is facing an uncertain phase in his career after struggling to meet expectations following his move to West Ham United. Once seen as a reliable striker after his impressive spell with Borussia Dortmund, his form has declined significantly, leaving doubts about his long-term future at the club.
His first season in England did not go as planned, as injuries disrupted his rhythm and limited his impact. Despite arriving with strong credentials, he managed only a handful of goals across multiple appearances, failing to establish himself as a consistent attacking option. The following season proved even more difficult, with limited playing time and no goals, ultimately pushing him out of the main squad.
A loan move to AC Milan during the winter transfer window was expected to revive his form, but the change of scenery brought little improvement. Although he featured regularly, his output remained minimal, and he struggled to adapt to the demands of Italian football. As a result, Milan quickly decided against making his stay permanent.
With his return to West Ham appearing to be only temporary, the club is reportedly ready to move on from the experienced forward. He is no longer viewed as part of their future plans, making a transfer in the upcoming window highly likely as both sides look for a more suitable solution.
Amid this uncertainty, Getafe CF has emerged as a potential destination. The Spanish side is eager to add experience and physical presence to its attacking line, particularly to support Borja Mayoral. A move to La Liga could offer Füllkrug a fresh start and a chance to rediscover the form that once made him a standout striker in European football.
