Barcelona’s Costly Pursuit: Bastoni Deal Could Demand Major Sacrifices
FC Barcelona are reportedly facing a significant financial challenge if they want to secure the signature of Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Catalan club has shown strong interest in strengthening their defensive line, but the price tag attached to the Italian center-back could complicate their plans.
According to reports from Corriere della Sera, Inter have set a firm valuation of no less than €70 million for Bastoni. The club views this figure as non-negotiable, signaling their reluctance to part ways with one of their most important defensive assets unless their demands are fully met.
Despite going through a somewhat difficult period in his career, Bastoni remains a key figure at the San Siro. Inter’s management still considers him untouchable in their defensive structure, underlining his importance both on and off the pitch. His consistency and experience continue to make him one of the most reliable defenders in the squad.
The 26-year-old has also shown no intention of leaving the club anytime soon. In fact, he is reportedly open to extending his current contract, which already runs until 2028. This situation further strengthens Inter’s position in negotiations, leaving potential buyers with very little leverage.
Barcelona had initially hoped to negotiate a more favorable deal, possibly taking advantage of the player’s recent struggles in domestic competitions. However, Inter’s firm stance means the Spanish giants may need to meet the full asking price or even include players in the deal. Meanwhile, Inter are already preparing for a possible departure by identifying Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo as a potential long-term replacement.
