China Media Group Secures Official Mainland China Broadcasting Rights for 2026 & 2030 FIFA World Cups

FIFA Official Website has officially confirmed that China Media Group (CMG/CCTV) has become the official broadcaster for the 2026 and 2030 FIFA World Cups in mainland China, with both parties reaching a broadcasting agreement covering the next two men’s World Cups and Women’s World Cups.
FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom said: “We are very pleased to reach this agreement with China Media Group. The Chinese market is extremely important to global football. We know the passion Chinese fans have for the sport, and we are delighted and proud to work with CMG to bring the FIFA World Cup to all football fans in China.”
According to reports, the agreement includes full broadcasting rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 2030 FIFA World Cup, 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, and 2031 FIFA Women's World Cup. FIFA stated that broadcasting these tournaments in the world’s second-most populous country will strongly support national youth football development strategies.
Grafstrom added: “For the past 50 years, China Media Group has been a strong partner of FIFA. With their involvement in broadcasting the next two FIFA World Cups and Women’s World Cups, the overall presentation of the tournaments will be significantly enhanced. CMG is a leader in broadcasting technology, and we are very excited to elevate the first-ever 48-team FIFA World Cup to a new level.”
Meanwhile, FIFA Chief Football Officer Jill Ellis and FIFA Chief of Global Football Development Arsene Wenger both visited China over the past two weeks to support FIFA’s cooperation with the Chinese Football Association.
