Korea Football Association Announces Massive 2026 World Cup Bonus Scheme for South Korea Players

Today, the Korea Football Association (KFA) officially announced the final bonus and support scheme for the national team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to the announcement, all 26 players selected for the final World Cup squad will each receive a basic allowance of 50 million won (approximately RMB 225,000). This is 30 million won (around RMB 135,000) higher than the allowance provided during the Qatar World Cup.

Players can also earn additional bonuses based on the team’s achievements:
- Reaching the Round of 32: 100 million won (approx. RMB 450,000)
- Reaching the Round of 16: 200 million won (approx. RMB 900,000)
- Reaching the quarter-finals: 300 million won (approx. RMB 1.35 million)
- Reaching the semi-finals: 400 million won (approx. RMB 1.8 million)
- Finishing third: 450 million won (approx. RMB 2.025 million)
- Finishing runners-up: 500 million won (approx. RMB 2.25 million)
- Winning the tournament: 600 million won (approx. RMB 2.7 million)

In addition, the KFA has introduced a match-winning bonus for this World Cup campaign. Each player will receive 30 million won (approximately RMB 135,000) for every victory.

With the win bonuses being cumulative, if South Korea were to win the World Cup with a perfect record, each player could earn up to 1 billion won (approximately RMB 4.5 million) in total bonuses.

The KFA explained: “The bonus payment structure was designed to reflect the changes in the tournament format, including the expansion from 32 to 48 participating nations and the introduction of a 32-team knockout stage. We have strengthened the performance-based reward system, meaning players will receive greater rewards for victories in the later stages of the competition.”
