AC Milan Eyes Ralf Rangnick for Key Management Role Instead of Coaching Job
AC Milan is reportedly exploring a major change behind the scenes by offering Ralf Rangnick a position within the club's technical management structure. Club owner Gerry Cardinale is said to admire the experienced Austrian football figure and has already presented an official proposal in recent days.
Unlike previous rumors linking Rangnick to the head coach position, this latest approach is focused on a technical or executive role within the organization. Milan is currently continuing its search for a new manager, with Andoni Iraola still considered one of the leading candidates for the coaching job.
Despite the reports from Italy, Rangnick has publicly denied having direct contact with Milan. The situation has created uncertainty around the negotiations, although his name continues to circulate strongly within the club's internal planning. Milan previously attempted to bring Rangnick to San Siro in the early 2020s, but discussions eventually collapsed before any agreement was reached.
The Rossoneri are currently facing delays in several important decisions, including the appointment of a sporting director and progress in negotiations with coaching targets. Because of that, the club is believed to be preparing alternative options to avoid further setbacks ahead of next season. Rangnick's experience in squad development and football structure management makes him an attractive candidate for the project.
However, bringing him to Milan could also create challenges internally. Rangnick is widely known for demanding strong authority over technical decisions and long-term planning. If he joins the club, he would likely need to work closely with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who already holds significant influence within Milan's management structure. Balancing those personalities and responsibilities could become one of the club's biggest tests moving forward.
