Jay Idzes Ruled Out as Indonesia Face Major Blow Ahead of FIFA Matchday
Indonesia will be without one of their key defenders for the upcoming FIFA Matchday in June 2026 after Jay Idzes was officially ruled out due to injury. The Sassuolo player is still recovering from a heel problem that has troubled him in recent weeks, forcing him to miss the national team's matches against Oman and Mozambique.
The injury worsened during Sassuolo's final Serie A match of the season against Parma at the Ennio Tardini Stadium. Idzes started the game but was unable to finish the match after being substituted early in the second half because of discomfort in his heel.
The problem had already affected the defender before the Parma clash. He reportedly experienced similar pain during Sassuolo's earlier meeting with AC Milan, and the issue later forced him to miss league games against Torino and Lecce as he focused on recovery.
Idzes personally confirmed his absence through his social media account, explaining that taking extra time to recover was the safest decision for his long-term condition. Despite his disappointment, he remains supportive of the Indonesian national team from afar as they prepare for two important international fixtures.
Indonesia are scheduled to face Oman on June 5, 2026, before taking on Mozambique four days later at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta. Without Idzes leading the back line, the coaching staff will now need to find the right defensive solution ahead of the challenging matches.
