Emil Audero Faces Uncertain Future After Outstanding Serie A Campaign
Emil Audero has officially returned to Como following the end of his loan spell with Cremonese in the 2025/26 Serie A season. Although his temporary stay has concluded, questions remain about where the Indonesian international goalkeeper will continue his career next season, as his contract with Como still runs until 2028.
On a personal level, Audero enjoyed an impressive campaign despite Cremonese's disappointing fate. He established himself as the club's first-choice goalkeeper and missed only a handful of matches throughout the season. His consistency and reliability made him one of the team's standout performers.
Across 34 league appearances, Audero recorded 11 clean sheets and produced remarkable numbers between the posts. His performances were highlighted by an impressive total of 123 saves, the highest tally among all goalkeepers in Serie A during the season, underlining his importance to the squad.
Despite his individual success, Cremonese could not avoid relegation after finishing the season in the bottom part of the table. The club's return to Serie B after just one year in Italy's top division overshadowed many of the positive contributions made by their goalkeeper throughout the campaign.
Back at Como, Audero now finds himself linked to a club that exceeded expectations by securing a place in next season's UEFA Champions League. If he becomes part of the first-team plans, the goalkeeper could have the opportunity to compete on Europe's biggest club stage, a development that would also be encouraging for the Indonesian national team as it prepares for future competitions.
