AC Milan's Transfer Plans Suffer Major Blow as Loan Trio Return to San Siro
AC Milan have encountered an unexpected setback in their summer transfer strategy after Yunus Musah, Ismael Bennacer, and Samuel Chukwueze all returned from their respective loan spells. The club had hoped to generate significant transfer income through permanent deals, but those plans have largely fallen apart.
The return of the three players represents a financial disappointment for Milan, which had been expecting substantial revenue from purchase options included in the loan agreements. With none of the deals fully completed, the club now faces the challenge of finding new solutions in the transfer market.
Musah spent the season on loan at Atalanta but failed to secure a permanent move despite showing flashes of potential. Limited playing time and modest production appear to have influenced Atalanta's decision not to activate the agreed purchase option. Milan remain open to selling the American midfielder, although interest from other clubs has yet to emerge.
Bennacer's situation proved even more difficult. His loan spell was heavily affected by recurring fitness issues, preventing him from making the desired impact. As a result, his temporary club decided against signing him permanently, leaving the Algerian midfielder back in Milan's squad for the upcoming season.
Among the returning players, Chukwueze remains the most likely candidate to secure a transfer. The Nigerian winger delivered respectable performances during his loan spell in England and attracted some interest from his temporary club. However, negotiations are still uncertain, and with management changes continuing behind the scenes, Milan may need more time than expected to resolve the futures of all three players.
