Persib and Borneo FC Earn Indonesia's Spots in ASEAN Club Championship 2026/27

Indonesia will be represented by Persib Bandung and Borneo FC Samarinda in the ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup 2026/27 after both clubs secured the top two positions in the Super League standings. The decision was officially confirmed by I.League, which stated that the selection process follows the tournament regulations established by the competition organizers.

Persib Bandung qualified for the regional tournament as champions of the 2025/26 BRI Super League season. Meanwhile, Borneo FC Samarinda earned their place after finishing the campaign as runners-up, completing an impressive season that secured their return to continental competition.

According to the regulations of the ASEAN Club Championship, member associations of the ASEAN Football Federation are required to send the first and second-placed teams from their highest domestic league. As a result, Persib and Borneo FC were automatically selected to represent Indonesia in the upcoming edition of the tournament.

I.League officials view the participation of both clubs as an important opportunity for Indonesian football to strengthen its presence on the regional stage. There is optimism that Persib and Borneo FC can compete strongly against the best clubs from Southeast Asia and contribute to the growing reputation of Indonesian football.

The road to the competition will begin with the official draw, which is scheduled to take place in Jakarta on June 5. The upcoming campaign also marks Indonesia's return to the ASEAN Club Championship after missing the previous edition, adding extra significance to the involvement of both clubs in the 2026/27 tournament.
