Victor Muñoz Chooses Newcastle Over Manchester United in Surprise Summer Decision

Victor Muñoz has reportedly made a decisive choice in the summer transfer market by preferring a move to Newcastle United instead of Manchester United. The Osasuna winger, who has attracted growing attention across Europe, is prioritizing regular playing time as he considers the next step in his career.
The 22-year-old enjoyed a strong 2025/26 season with Osasuna, contributing to 12 goals and earning a surprise call-up to Spain’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. His development has placed him on the radar of several top clubs, with Newcastle emerging as the most serious contender.
Manchester United had also been monitoring his progress, but their interest has not been enough to convince him. Newcastle’s project, along with the promise of a clearer role in the first team, is believed to be the key factor behind his preference for the Premier League side.
Negotiations between Newcastle and Osasuna are ongoing, with discussions centered around a £35 million release clause. A structured payment plan is being considered, while Real Madrid are also reportedly involved in the deal with a future buy-back option included in the agreement.
Although Muñoz shows versatility on both wings and has demonstrated strong dribbling ability, his overall statistical output suggests he is still developing as a complete attacker. With areas of improvement still evident, Newcastle view him more as a long-term project rather than an immediate star, making the transfer a calculated investment for the future.
