Persib Secure Sandy Walsh on Three-Year Deal to Strengthen Squad for Busy 2026/27 Campaign
Persib Bandung have officially completed the signing of Indonesian international Sandy Walsh ahead of the 2026/27 season, announcing him alongside Luka Menalo as part of the club's latest recruitment drive. The experienced defender joins the team to reinforce the backline as Persib prepares for a demanding campaign featuring four different competitions.
The club has handed Walsh a three-year contract that will keep him at Persib until 2029, highlighting its commitment to building a competitive squad for both the present and the future. Rather than viewing the transfer as a short-term solution, the management considers the defender an important long-term investment capable of contributing to the club's continued development.
Walsh was brought in following the recommendation of coach Igor Tolic, with his versatility playing a major role in the decision. Comfortable as a right-back, central defender, or defensive midfielder, he offers tactical flexibility that allows the coaching staff to adjust formations and strategies based on different opponents and match situations.
The 30-year-old also arrives with an impressive football background after spending several years in Europe before continuing his career in Asia with Yokohama F. Marinos and Buriram United. Combined with his experience representing the Indonesian national team, his familiarity with both European and Asian football is expected to help him settle quickly while providing leadership and stability on the pitch.
Walsh's arrival is expected to improve Persib's squad depth as the club competes in the Super League, AFC Champions League Two, ASEAN Club Championship, and the domestic League Cup. With a packed schedule ahead, the defender is seen as a valuable addition who can enhance the team's competitiveness and support Persib's ambition of challenging for trophies across multiple competitions.
