Dewa United Ends Jan Olde Riekerink Era After Four Transformative Seasons
Dewa United have officially parted ways with head coach Jan Olde Riekerink, bringing an end to a successful four-season partnership that played a significant role in the club’s rise within Indonesian football. The decision closes an important chapter for the Banten-based side after a period marked by steady growth and notable achievements.
Riekerink took charge midway through the 2022/23 season when Dewa United were still developing their identity and building a competitive squad. Under his leadership, the team gradually evolved into a more organized and consistent force, laying the foundation for long-term progress.

The club’s improvement was reflected in its league performances over the following seasons. After finishing near the bottom of the table during his first campaign, Dewa United climbed to fifth place the next year before achieving a historic runner-up finish in the 2024/25 Liga 1 season, securing the club’s first qualification for an Asian competition.
During his final season in charge, Riekerink guided Dewa United to the quarter-finals of the AFC Challenge League while leading the team to a seventh-place finish in the domestic league. Although the campaign did not match the previous year's success, it reinforced the club’s growing reputation on both domestic and regional stages.

Club president Ardian Satya Negara expressed gratitude for Riekerink’s contribution, recognizing his role in transforming Dewa United from a struggling side into a team capable of competing at the highest level in Indonesia and Asia. While the partnership has come to an end, the club emphasized that the separation was made with mutual respect and appreciation for the Dutch coach’s lasting impact.
