Persib Parts Ways with Top Scorer Andrew Jung After Record Transfer Offer
Persib Bandung has confirmed the departure of French striker Andrew Jung after accepting a significant transfer offer from another club. Although the forward still had one year remaining on his contract, the club decided to approve the move as part of its long-term squad planning ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The decision was influenced by more than just the financial value of the transfer. Persib's management and coaching staff carefully evaluated the situation before concluding that the deal aligned with the club's future objectives while also benefiting the player's career development.
Despite spending only one season with Persib, Jung made a remarkable impact. He arrived from OFI Crete late in the transfer window and gradually established himself as a key figure in the attack. His physical presence, ability to hold up the ball, and finishing skills strengthened the team's offensive play throughout the campaign.
Jung finished as Persib's leading scorer with 16 goals across all competitions, including 11 in the Super League and five in the AFC Champions League Two. His performances played an important role in helping the club secure the 2025/26 league title and continue its pursuit of a historic third consecutive championship.
Persib expressed appreciation for Jung's professionalism and valuable contributions during his brief stay. While his departure marks the end of a successful chapter, the club believes his achievements will remain part of its recent history, and both sides now look forward to new opportunities in the upcoming season.
