Persija Strengthen Defense with Experienced Bosnian Signing Kerim Memija

Persija Jakarta have continued to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Liga 1 season by signing Bosnian defender Kerim Memija. The experienced full-back has agreed to a two-year contract as the club looks to build a more competitive team capable of challenging for domestic success.

Born in Sarajevo in 1996, Memija began his professional career with Željezničar, where he developed into a reliable defender. He later moved to Denmark to play for Vejle, while also spending a loan spell at Hobro IK that helped him gain valuable experience in European football.

His journey continued in Croatia with NK Varaždin before returning to Bosnia to join Zrinjski Mostar. During his time there, he enjoyed the most successful period of his career, winning three Bosnian Premier League titles and establishing himself as one of the club's key defensive players. He also represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at youth international level.

Memija described his move to Persija as an exciting new chapter and expressed his determination to make a positive impact. He is eager to contribute consistently on the pitch and is looking forward to experiencing the passionate support of the club's fans throughout the upcoming campaign.

Persija president Mohamad Prapanca believes Memija brings the ideal combination of quality, experience, and character to the squad. The club expects his defensive reliability, along with his ability to support attacking plays, to strengthen the team as they pursue their ambitions in the new Liga 1 season.
