Mourinho Blocks Valverde Exit Despite Difficult Season at Real Madrid
Federico Valverde endured one of the most challenging seasons of his career as inconsistent performances and growing leadership responsibilities affected his form. The Uruguayan midfielder struggled to meet expectations despite serving as one of Real Madrid's senior figures.
Although Valverde produced several outstanding displays during March, including a remarkable hat-trick against Manchester City, he was unable to maintain that level throughout the campaign. His overall contribution fell short of the standards expected from one of the club's key midfielders.
The season also featured reported tensions with members of the coaching staff and several teammates, raising questions about his future at the Santiago Bernabéu. Similar concerns followed him to the Uruguay national team, where he also found it difficult to establish consistent form.
Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa reportedly adjusted parts of his training approach to accommodate Valverde's requests as captain, highlighting the player's influence within the squad. However, those changes did not fully resolve the team's on-field challenges or Valverde's individual struggles.
Despite speculation linking him with Premier League clubs and Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid are not planning to sell Valverde. Reports suggest Jose Mourinho has strongly backed the midfielder and played a major role in blocking any potential transfer, believing he can return to his best form.
