Persita Shows Faith in Carlos Pena with New Deal for 2026/27 Season
Persita Tangerang have decided to continue their partnership with head coach Carlos Pena by extending his stay for the 2026/2027 season. The Spanish manager will enter his second year in charge after guiding the club to a 10th-place finish in the 2025/26 Super League campaign.
Pena experienced an inconsistent debut season with Persita, leading the team to 13 victories, six draws, and 15 defeats. Despite the mixed results, the club's management remains confident that he can build on the foundation established during his first year.
Before taking charge of Persita, Pena gained recognition in Indonesian football while managing Persija Jakarta during the 2024/25 season. His side spent part of the campaign among the league's top contenders before eventually finishing in seventh place.
Although still early in his coaching career, Pena has already collected valuable experience across several countries. He began his managerial journey with FC Goa in India before continuing his career in Thailand with Ratchaburi FC, adding to his tactical knowledge and international experience.
By retaining Pena, Persita are signaling their belief in continuity rather than starting over with a new coach. The club hopes his growing experience and long-term vision will help the Pendekar Cisadane achieve stronger performances and climb higher in the Super League standings next season.
