Lazio and Porto Battle for Santiago Gimenez as AC Milan Await Formal Offers

Santiago Gimenez has once again become a key figure in the summer transfer market, with Lazio and Porto emerging as the leading contenders to sign the AC Milan striker. After speculation surrounded him in the previous transfer window without producing a deal, interest in the Mexican forward has returned with greater focus.
Lazio are believed to be pushing hardest for Gimenez, as head coach Gennaro Gattuso reportedly sees him as an important addition capable of strengthening the squad. However, negotiations remain difficult because Milan are unwilling to accept a loan agreement that includes either an option or a conditional obligation to buy.
The Italian club also faces financial limitations that complicate any move for the striker. Lazio are expected to reduce their squad and generate transfer income before they can seriously pursue a deal with Milan.
Meanwhile, Porto have positioned themselves as a credible alternative if Lazio fail to progress. The Portuguese side are encouraged by the admiration of head coach Francesco Farioli, who reportedly views Gimenez as an ideal fit for his attacking plans, while the player has already held discussions with the manager.
Despite growing interest from both clubs, no official negotiations have yet produced a breakthrough. Milan remain open to discussions but are waiting for a concrete proposal that matches their valuation before considering the sale of Gimenez.
