Indonesia U-20 Announce 23-Man Squad for 2027 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers

Indonesia U-20 have finalized a 23-player squad for the 2027 AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers, with Nova Arianto selecting his team for a challenging Group H campaign in Laos. The Young Garuda will face hosts Laos, Australia, and Malaysia during the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The squad combines familiar youth internationals with several overseas-based talents as Indonesia looks to secure a place in the next stage.

Three diaspora players have been included in the squad, with Welber Jardim, Amar Brkic, and Eizar Jacob providing international experience from their respective clubs abroad. Jardim, who plays for Sao Paulo FC in Brazil, is expected to strengthen the midfield, while Brkic represents Sportverein Darmstadt 1898 in Germany and Jacob is part of Sydney FC in Australia. Their inclusion adds further depth and variety to a squad that also features several players already familiar with Indonesia's youth national teams.

Among the returning names are Arkhan Kaka, Reno Salampessy, Nazriel Alvaro, and Zahaby Gholy, who are expected to play important roles in the attacking and midfield areas. The final squad was formed after Indonesia completed a training camp in Thailand throughout August as part of its preparations for the qualifiers. During the camp, Indonesia recorded a 3-2 victory over Kasem Bundit University FC, drew 0-0 with the United Arab Emirates U-20, and suffered a 2-1 defeat against Iraq U-20, giving Nova Arianto several important tests before the Group H campaign begins.
