Arema FC Complete Foreign Player Quota with Nigerian Striker Samuel Otusanya

Arema FC have completed their foreign-player quota for the 2026/2027 BRI Super League season by signing Nigerian forward Samuel Otusanya. The 22-year-old becomes the final addition to the squad after the departure of Joel Vinicius left one foreign-player spot available. His arrival is expected to add more attacking options to the Singo Edan squad as they prepare for a demanding domestic campaign.

Otusanya's recruitment came after Arema FC conducted a squad evaluation following the 2026 President's Cup. The coaching staff identified the need for another forward and considered the Nigerian a suitable fit for head coach Marcos Santos' tactical plans. Despite his young age, Otusanya has already gained professional experience in both Norway and Brazil, which was an important factor behind Arema's decision to bring him in.

Born on June 27, 2004, Oluwasegun Samuel Otusanya stands at around 186 centimeters and primarily operates as a central striker. His profile includes aerial strength, pace, and the ability to create space for teammates. Arema FC see him as more than a player recruited simply to complete their foreign quota, with the club expecting him to make a meaningful contribution while continuing to develop during his time in Indonesia.

Otusanya began his professional career with FK Haugesund in Norway in 2023 before moving to Brazil, where he joined América-PE. He later signed for Criciúma EC in Brazil's Serie B and gained additional experience through loan spells at Náutico and Athletic Club in Minas Gerais. Those moves gave him valuable playing time and exposed him to the competitive nature of Brazilian professional football.

During the 2025 season, Otusanya featured regularly for Náutico and contributed goals before returning to Serie B competition with Athletic Club the following campaign. His move to Arema now represents a new chapter in his career and his first opportunity to play in Indonesia.
