Romagnoli Completes Long-Awaited Move to Al-Sadd After Leaving Lazio

Alessio Romagnoli has officially completed his move away from Lazio and will continue his career with Qatari side Al-Sadd. The 31-year-old defender has signed a contract running until June 2029, with the transfer reportedly worth €3 million. The move brings an end to a lengthy process that had been in the works for several months.

Romagnoli had already said goodbye to Lazio supporters in January, but his proposed transfer to Al-Sadd broke down at the final stage during the winter window. Despite that setback, the experienced centre-back remained determined to make the move happen. Issues involving his former club were eventually resolved, allowing the deal to be completed several months later.

The former Italy international now begins a new chapter in Qatar after spending much of his career in Italian football. His journey included time in the youth system at Roma before senior spells with Sampdoria and Milan. He joined Lazio in 2022 after leaving Milan and went on to establish himself as an important figure in the club's defence.

The move to Al-Sadd represents a significant change for Romagnoli, both professionally and personally. After finally securing the transfer he had been pursuing since the start of the year, he can now focus fully on adapting to a new league, a different footballing environment and a new team. His experience at the highest level of Italian football could prove valuable to Al-Sadd.

Romagnoli's departure also closes an emotional chapter with Lazio, a club he supported from a young age. Although his professional career began elsewhere, playing for Lazio fulfilled an ambition that had been close to him for years. He will now look to make an impact in Qatar and help Al-Sadd achieve its goals during the four-year contract.
