Savinho, known for his dynamic playing style, contributed significantly to Girona’s successful campaign in La Liga, helping them secure a third-place finish with nine goals and ten assists in 37 matches. Both Girona and Troyes are part of the City Football Group, which facilitated the transfer.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Savinho hailed Manchester City as the "best team in the world" and expressed eagerness to work under the guidance of Pep Guardiola, whom he described as "one of the greatest coaches ever." He emphasized his excitement saying, "I just got here this morning and I turned to my agent and stepfather and said, 'there was no way I was going to turn down Manchester City'."

Savinho started his career at Atletico Mineiro in Brazil before moving to Troyes in 2022. Though he did not make any competitive appearances for the French Ligue 2 side, he had a brief spell at PSV Eindhoven, followed by a successful season at Girona, where he scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions.

City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, expressed confidence in Savinho's potential, stating, "He has a big role to play for Manchester City this season and beyond. We are totally confident in his ability. He is still young and has the potential to become even better, and everyone knows that Pep is the best at helping players develop even further."

Savinho’s recent performances earned him a senior call-up for Brazil in March, where he debuted against England and scored his first international goal in the group stage of the Copa America against Paraguay.

This acquisition highlights Manchester City’s ongoing strategy to bolster their squad with young, promising talent, aiming for continued success both domestically and in European competitions.
