Cesc Fabregas Takes Helm as Head Coach of Serie A's Como

Cesc Fabregas has been appointed as the head coach of Serie A club Como, marking his first full managerial role. The former Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona midfielder, who ended his playing career with Como last year, has signed a four-year contract with the Italian club.
Fabregas, 37, transitioned to coaching after serving as Como's assistant head coach last season. His promotion to head coach follows his stint as a caretaker manager, during which he managed five matches between November and December 2023.
Expressing his excitement, Fabregas stated, "I am so happy to be starting this season as head coach and I thank the ownership group for trusting me with this position. I share the ambitions of the group and believe this is just the start of where this club can go. It’s going to be a tough and important season but myself and the rest of the coaching staff are ready and we all believe."
Como, who were promoted to Serie A after a 21-year absence, will face a significant challenge as they prepare to compete against top-tier teams, including 36-time Serie A champions Juventus on their return to the top flight on 19 August. Fabregas' appointment is seen as a strategic move to bring his extensive experience and winning mentality to the club, which aims to establish itself firmly in Italy's top division.
Fabregas, who won the World Cup with Spain in 2010, will aim to leverage his vast experience as a player and budding coach to navigate the complexities of Serie A and drive Como to new heights.
