Malacia Misses Out on Man Utd's USA Tour Due to Injury

Manchester United's Dutch defender Tyrell Malacia has been excluded from the squad for their upcoming pre-season tour in the United States. The 24-year-old, who joined United from Feyenoord for £15 million in July 2022, has been sidelined for over 13 months following knee surgery last summer. Despite initial expectations of a return in the autumn and then February, Malacia has not met these recovery deadlines. He remains at United’s Carrington training ground to continue his rehabilitation under the guidance of the club’s medical staff.

New signing Leny Yoro is included in the squad, alongside England winger Jadon Sancho, who has resolved his previous issues with manager Erik ten Hag. However, England duo Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw, among others, will miss the tour after being given time off post-Euro 2024 and Copa America.
Manchester United's tour kicks off with a match against Arsenal in Los Angeles on Saturday, followed by games against Real Betis and Liverpool.
