Indonesia's head coach Shin Tae-yong was interviewed by Indonesian media and discussed the topic of the 18-team qualifiers.

On offers from K-League teams:
Indonesia's head coach Shin Tae-yong said, "Honestly, I have received many offers from Korea's K-League. However, I feel that if I accepted them, all my efforts up to now would be wasted. Moreover, I believe it makes no sense to leave when the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers is approaching."
On the 18-team qualifiers:
Indonesia's head coach Shin Tae-yong said, "Our goal is to finish 3rd or 4th in the group stage, which will be held from September 2024 to June 2025. Directly qualifying for the 2026 World Cup by finishing in 1st or 2nd place is still a dream."
