Fulham Break Transfer Record for Arsenal's Emile Smith Rowe

Fulham has set a new club record by signing Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal. The transfer deal includes an initial payment of £27 million, which could rise to £34 million with add-ons. The 24-year-old midfielder, who struggled for game time at Arsenal last season, is eager to secure regular first-team football.

Smith Rowe played only 346 minutes in the Premier League last season, making just three starts. His season was also disrupted by a knee injury that sidelined him for six weeks in October. Despite these challenges, he remains a promising talent, having won three senior caps for England and being part of the squad that clinched the UEFA European U21 Championship last summer.
Smith Rowe returned from Arsenal's pre-season tour in the USA to complete his medical in London. He will join Fulham during their pre-season training camp in Portugal.
Fulham's transfer activities are in full swing, with ongoing talks to sign Aston Villa's Diego Carlos and Villarreal's Jorge Cuenca. The club is also in dialogue with Manchester United over midfielder Scott McTominay. This influx of new players may affect the future of veteran defender Tim Ream, who is in the final year of his contract and has attracted interest from MLS side Charlotte FC.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta paid tribute to Smith Rowe, praising his commitment and energy. Arteta acknowledged the midfielder's significant contributions during challenging times for the team and expressed his sadness at Smith Rowe's departure but wished him well in his new chapter at Fulham.
This transfer marks a significant step for Fulham as they aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
