Newcastle United Eyes England Defender Marc Guehi

Newcastle United has initiated discussions with Crystal Palace regarding a potential transfer for England centre-back Marc Guehi. The 24-year-old, who shone at Euro 2024, has caught the attention of several top Premier League clubs after a stellar performance, playing in six of England's seven matches.
Guehi, who has two years left on his Palace contract, formed a solid defensive partnership with John Stones during the tournament, missing only the quarter-final against Switzerland due to suspension. Since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea in July 2021, he has made 111 appearances and become a key asset for the Eagles.
Newcastle, in need of bolstering their defensive lineup, have also shown interest in Liverpool's Joe Gomez this summer. Guehi's potential transfer would be a significant move, as Palace is keen to avoid losing one of their top players without compensation.
Palace's strategy of acquiring promising young talent from lower divisions has paid off in recent years, with successful signings like Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, the latter having recently joined Bayern Munich for around €60 million (£50 million).
The transfer window remains open, and Newcastle's formal approach could set the stage for a high-profile move before the deadline.
