AC Milan is pleased to announce the signing of Emerson Aparecido Leite de Souza Junior from Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. The Brazilian defender has signed with Milan until June 30, 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year.
Born on January 14, 1999, in São Paulo, Brazil, Emerson grew up in the youth academy of Ponte Preta, making his first-team debut in February 2017, where he made 25 appearances and scored 1 goal over two seasons. In 2018, he transferred to Atlético Mineiro (23 appearances, 1 goal), and in January 2019, he moved to Real Betis, where he made 79 appearances and scored 5 goals. After a brief stint at Barcelona, he joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, making 101 appearances and scoring 4 goals for the club.
He made his debut for the Brazilian national team in November 2019, earning a total of 10 caps.
Emerson will wear the number 22 jersey for Milan.
