Reading's director has been suspended for 12 weeks and fined £7,000 for betting violations

According to an official statement from the English FA, Reading's director, Mark Bowen, has been suspended for 12 weeks and fined £7,000 due to betting activities.
Mark Bowen admitted to placing 95 bets on football matches (unrelated to Reading) between April 19, 2022, and January 14, 2024. On July 17, 2024, an independent regulatory commission imposed a 12-week suspension, with 8 weeks suspended until the end of the 2025/26 season, along with a £7,000 fine.
In recent years, the FA has intensified its crackdown on gambling-related offenses. Previously, it was reported that at least five Premier League players were under investigation for gambling activities.
