Ivan Toney Joins Saudi Pro League's Al-Ahli from Brentford

Brentford striker Ivan Toney has completed a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli for a fee around £40 million. The transfer was finalized early on Saturday, marking a significant step in Toney's career. Brentford manager Thomas Frank praised Toney’s contributions, highlighting his impressive goal-scoring record of more than a goal every two games and his leadership qualities. Frank described Toney as a "Brentford legend" for his impact over the past four years.
Toney, 28, was part of England's Euro 2024 squad, making three substitute appearances, including the final against Spain. He was also notable for a unique penalty in the shootout against Switzerland. Despite his talents, Toney faced an eight-month suspension for breaching FA betting rules, which limited his appearances last season. He managed to score four goals in five matches upon his return.
The striker, who joined Brentford from Peterborough United in 2020, played a crucial role in their promotion to the Premier League and has six caps for England. As he embarks on a new chapter with Al-Ahli, Toney leaves behind a legacy at Brentford, contributing significantly to their rise and success.
