Ange Postecoglou Addresses Heung-Min Son's Reaction to Substitution Amidst Spurs' Dominant Win

Following Tottenham Hotspur's impressive 4-1 victory over Aston Villa, manager Ange Postecoglou downplayed Heung-Min Son's frustrated response to his early substitution during the match. Son appeared visibly upset when he was replaced by Richarlison in the 56th minute, shortly after providing an assist for Brennan Johnson's equalizer. However, Postecoglou clarified that the substitution was a planned decision, aimed at managing Son's return from injury.

Postecoglou explained that Son was not intended to play beyond the 60-minute mark due to fatigue concerns stemming from his recent injury. "He was never going to play more than that today because obviously he'd had an injury," the Spurs boss stated. He praised Son's contributions to the game, highlighting his crucial assist for the team's first goal. The manager expressed confidence that Son's reaction was normal, as "I didn't see any difference in Sonny," emphasizing the importance of considering the overall team dynamics rather than individual feelings.

In the match itself, Tottenham showcased a strong performance, moving up to seventh place in the Premier League standings, just two points behind Arsenal in fourth. The victory was significantly aided by two goals from Dominic Solanke, whose efforts were recognized by Postecoglou as vital to the team's success. He acknowledged Solanke's impact, stating, "He just makes us a better team," and emphasized the need for continued improvement as the season progresses. Despite the win, Postecoglou noted some injury concerns for Cristian Romero and Richarlison, which could affect the squad moving forward.
