Flick's Barcelona Maintains Scoring Spree with Five-Goal Belgrade Show

Barcelona's remarkable offensive form continued as they dispatched Red Star Belgrade 5-2 in the Champions League, marking their seventh consecutive victory with three or more goals scored. Under Hansi Flick's guidance, the Catalans have transformed into an offensive juggernaut, averaging an impressive 3.4 goals per game across LaLiga and Champions League competitions, with their total tally reaching 55 goals this season.

The victory showcased Barcelona's attacking prowess, with Robert Lewandowski netting twice to bring his Champions League career total to 99 goals, placing him behind only Cristiano Ronaldo (140) and Lionel Messi (129) in the competition's history. Jules Koundé demonstrated his versatility with an outstanding performance from right-back, providing three assists. The scoring was rounded out by Iñigo Martínez, Raphinha, and Fermín López, though Red Star managed to respond through goals from Silas and Milson.

Coach Flick attributes the team's success to their genuine passion for the sport and competitive spirit. "The team is doing great because they love to play football and they love to compete against any team," he explained post-match. This is the first time since 2011-12 that Barcelona has scored three or more goals in three consecutive Champions League matches, and their first seven-game streak with three-plus goals in all competitions since 2017. The only slight concern from the evening was a facial injury to young defender Pau Cubarsí, though Flick assured it was just a cut requiring stitches and shouldn't affect his availability for the upcoming LaLiga clash with Real Sociedad.
