Inzaghi Claims Inter Deserved Victory Despite 1-1 Draw Against Napoli

Inter Milan's head coach, Simone Inzaghi, expressed confidence that his team deserved a victory over Napoli, despite the match ending in a 1-1 draw at San Siro. The draw came as a disappointment for Inter, who had the chance to move to the top of the Serie A standings. After falling behind to a goal from Scott McTominay from a corner kick, Inter fought back with Hakan Calhanoglu scoring the equalizer. However, Calhanoglu also missed a penalty, marking a rare failure in his otherwise successful spot-kick record.

Inzaghi praised his players for dominating the second half, stating, "If there was one side that should’ve won, then it was Inter." He acknowledged that while Napoli managed to take the lead, Inter maintained composure and limited their chances significantly throughout the match. Following an exhausting Champions League victory over Arsenal, Inzaghi was impressed by his team's performance, noting that he didn't expect them to be so impressive given their recent exertions.

Despite the draw, Inzaghi highlighted the positives, including the team's resilience and the partnerships forming on the pitch. He emphasized the importance of focusing on performance rather than just the result, especially against a formidable opponent like Napoli. The result leaves the title race tight, with Napoli still leading but closely followed by Inter, Atalanta, Lazio, and Fiorentina, keeping the competition lively as the season progresses. Inzaghi remains optimistic about his team's trajectory, noting their strong form in recent weeks and the need to maintain humility as they continue to push for the title.
