Bologna
Full of confidence after a five-match unbeaten streak in Serie A, capped off by a victory over Atalanta in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals earlier this week, Bologna ventured south to Lecce last week with high hopes. However, on the Via del Mare, Vincenzo Italiano's team failed to score, settling for a 0-0 draw.
Moreover, goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski showcased heroics in the first half, securing a point for his team as Lecce appeared much closer to victory. Nevertheless, the Rossoblu can now achieve an unbeaten start to the calendar year in their first seven league matches for the first time since 2012.
"We had a poor first half, allowing the opponents to create two dangerous chances. After that, we tightened up defensively, but we weren't brilliant in attack. We didn't support our forwards well. We need to learn to perform better against weaker teams," Vincenzo Italiano stated.
Having lost only one match at Dall'Ara this season, Bologna hopes to continue their positive results against Torino: the hosts have won three of their last five encounters. They have not conceded a goal in their last three matches against the Bulls, including a 2-0 away victory in December, thanks to goals from Tommaso Pobega and Tays Dallinga.
Before the match against Torino, Italiano received good news: Riccardo Orsolini has recovered. He will be ready to play in this match but is unlikely to start.
Before the game against Bologna, Italian media reports suggest that club president Urbano Cairo wants to extend head coach Paolo Vanoli's contract until the summer of 2028. Cairo appreciates how Vanoli develops players and does not "cry" over personnel issues, especially in the transfer market (with no proper replacement for the injured Duvan Zapata).
Torino
Torino, much like their opponents, have not won any of their last eight league matches in Bologna. The Granata are also unbeaten in 2025 (albeit with only one victory since the year began), yet they remain 10 points behind Bologna in the Serie A standings.
In the previous round, Paolo Vanoli's side drew with Genoa (1-1) in a match that saw newcomers Cesare Casadei and Cristiano Biraghi debut for their new team as substitutes. Consequently, six of Torino's last seven matches have ended in draws—at least two more than any other team in Europe’s top five leagues since Christmas.
Having halted their slide towards a possible relegation battle in mid-season, Torino can now aim for a spot in the top half of the table, and a win on Friday would temporarily lift the Bulls up to 10th place. Despite their recent results at Dall'Ara being disheartening, the Granata have not lost any of their last five away matches; thus, they are very capable of ending Bologna's unbeaten streak.
Bologna possible starting lineup:
Skorupski; Calabria, Beukema, Lucumi, Miranda; Freuler, Moro; Orsolini, Dominguez, Ndoye; Castro
Torino possible starting lineup:
Milinkovic-Savic; Pedersen, Maripan, Coco, Sosa; Casadei, Linetty; Lazaro, Vlasic, Karamoh; Adams
Bologna vs Torino Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
The two teams have a long-standing rivalry and have crossed paths 158 times in all competitions. They have contested these meetings closely, with the visitors having a 59-52 lead in wins and 47 games ending in draws.
The Rossoblù are unbeaten in their last three meetings against the visitors, recording two wins. They have kept clean sheets in these wins as well.
Nine of the last 11 meetings between them have produced under 2.5 goals.
Torino have lost just one of their last 10 Serie A games, playing out seven draws. Interestingly, that loss was registered against Bologna at home in the reverse fixture in December.
The hosts have lost just one of their last 16 games across all competitions.
The Rossoblù have outscored the visitors 35-25 in Serie A and also have the better defensive record, conceding one fewer goal (27).
Prediction: Bologna 1-0 Torino
Torino (1,370) and Bologna (1,326) have played the most minutes on level terms in Serie A this season, so it is sure to be a close-fought contest on Friday. With one goal splitting them, the hosts can end their visitors' unbeaten streak and extend their own, thanks to a more potent attack.
