-----------------------------
Girona
The Catalans, following the conclusion of the group stage of the Champions League, will not be stretched across two tournaments and can focus on improving their results and league standing in La Liga. Michel recently expressed a desire to reach the 60-point mark and qualify for European competitions. Achieving 60 points is a very ambitious goal, considering Girona currently has only 31 points after 23 matches played. Moreover, reaching this total is not strictly necessary. At present, Girona is in eighth place, tied on points with Mallorca, Osasuna, and Real Sociedad. The Basques occupy a higher position due to a better goal difference. Seventh place is likely to ensure entry into the Conference League, while there’s a possibility that a spot in the Europa League could be secured from seventh, should Spain, at the conclusion of the European season, surpass Italy in the overall coefficient, resulting in five teams from La Liga qualifying for the Champions League, with the sixth and seventh placed teams going to the Europa League and the eighth to the Conference League.

However, I don’t see the Catalans finishing higher than sixth, considering their recent performances, form, and squad depth. Michel's team has not been impressive as of late and has mostly been disappointing. In seven matches this year, the "rojiblancos" have managed only two victories while suffering five defeats. Initially, Girona fortuitously claimed a narrow win against Alaves (1:0) away, and two weeks ago, they comfortably overcame Las Palmas at home – 2:1. In the interim, Girona lost at home by identical scores of 1:2 to Sevilla and Arsenal, as well as narrowly falling to AC Milan (0:1) and Rayo Vallecano (1:2) away. Just this past weekend, Michel's team was dismantled with no resistance by Athletic Club in Bilbao – 3:0 in favor of the Basques.

Getafe
On the other hand, "asulones" have recently surprised with their excellent results. Last week, the usually tough-to-beat team of Jose Bordalas suffered a shocking 0:5 defeat away at Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey, yet they remain unbeaten in La Liga this year. Their current unbeaten streak spans five matches, three of which have ended in victories for Getafe. More significantly, all these wins were achieved on the road, which is quite uncommon for the team from the suburbs of Madrid. Nonetheless, it is what it is.

Initially, "asulones" unexpectedly overcame Las Palmas (2:1), gaining an upper hand despite a slight disadvantage in play. Then, at home, they managed to clinch yet another point against Barcelona (1:1), and away they shocked Real Sociedad with a comprehensive 3:0 victory. Following that was another home draw – 0:0 against Sevilla. The last match in Vitoria against Alaves seemed destined to end in a goalless stalemate, but the referees awarded a penalty to the visitors at the end of the first half. Mauro Arambarri converted the spot-kick, and that goal ultimately stood as the only one in the match. This way, Getafe stretched their lead over the relegation zone to five points while also making some progress towards joining the top ten of the standings.

Girona possible starting lineup:
Gazzaniga; Frances, Juanpe, Krejci, Gutierrez; Herrera, Martin; Tsyhankov, Van de Beek, Gil; Ruiz

Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Iglesias, Duarte, Alderete, Rico; Terrats, Dakonam, Arambarri, Coba; Mayoral, Uche

Girona vs Getafe Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
There is not much history between the two teams as they have crossed paths 13 times in all competitions. The hosts have the upper hand in these meetings with six wins. Azulones are not far behind with four wins while three games have ended in draws.
Both teams registered home wins in their league meetings last season while Blanquivermells registered a 1-0 away win in the reverse fixture in November.
The visitors have the second-worst attacking record in La Liga this term, scoring 18 goals. Interestingly, they have the second-best defensive record, conceding 17 goals in 23 games.
Girona have lost two of their three home games in 2025, with all games ending with a 2-1 scoreline.
Getafe have enjoyed a good run of form in 2025, losing just one of their eight games this year.
The visitors have a 100% away record in La Liga games this year, keeping two clean sheets in three games.

Prediction: Girona 1-1 Getafe
Getafe's recent away record is excellent, posting three straight wins, conceding only once, and we are therefore struggling to predict a loss for the capital side here. Girona have won six of their 11 home league fixtures this term, but we are predicting a low-scoring draw here, which both managers would likely take if that were offered ahead of kickoff.
