Injury Crisis Hits Persib, Two Academy Players Promoted to Senior Team
Persib Bandung is currently facing a series of injury setbacks, leading to the promotion of two academy players, Kevin Muhammad (defender) and AthayaZahran (forward), to the senior squad. The club is grappling with several key players sidelined, including Dimas Drajad, David da Silva, Ferdiansyah, FebriHariyadi, RezaldiHehanussa, ZulkifliLukmansyah, DediKusnandar, RachmatIrianto, and GervaneKastaneer.
While Drajad, Febri, and Ferdiansyah returned to training on April 2, 2025, it remains uncertain if they will be available for the upcoming match against Borneo FC on April 11, 2025, in the 28th week of Liga 1 2024-25.
Persib's coach, BojanHodak, acknowledged the squad's shortage of players and explained that bringing up academy players like Athaya and Kevin was necessary to fill the gap. He emphasized that their training with the senior team would be a valuable experience for their development.
Both Athaya and Kevin, who had been playing in the Elite Pro Academy Liga 1 U-20 2024-25, expressed their excitement at the opportunity to train with the senior team. They are eager to gain knowledge and experience from the senior players and coaching staff.
Athaya shared his pride and joy at training alongside senior players, noting how the veterans were open and willing to share advice. Kevin, meanwhile, mentioned that being part of Persib was a dream come true, and although he initially felt awkward, he's now more motivated than ever to make an impact.
