Indonesia Reaches FIFA Ranking High of 123, Best in 15 Years

Indonesia's national football team has achieved a major milestone by securing the 123rd spot in the latest FIFA rankings, marking its best position in the last 15 years. The update, released on April 3, 2025, saw Indonesia rise four places from its previous standing at 127th.
This marks the team's highest ranking since 2010. In fact, Indonesia hasn't been ranked 123rd since March 31, 2010, when they were positioned at 138th. Over the years, their best ranking was 125th in January 2011.
The improvement in the FIFA rankings follows Indonesia's recent performances in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for the Asian zone. Despite a heavy 1-5 defeat to Australia, Indonesia bounced back with wins over Bahrain on March 20 and 25, earning a total of 9.51 points, bringing their current total to 1142.92 points.
PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir has set a new target for the national team to break into the top 100, hoping that this ranking boost will serve as motivation for the upcoming crucial World Cup qualifying matches in June 2025.
