Marcus Rashford Sets Sights on Champions League Club for Next Move
Marcus Rashford is reportedly looking to make his next career move to a club competing in the Champions League. The 27-year-old forward, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United, will delay any decision regarding his future until the end of the season. Villa has an option to make his loan permanent for £40 million, but they have yet to confirm whether they will activate that clause. A potential stumbling block in this deal could be Rashford’s high wages, which are around £350k a week.
Despite the option for a permanent move to Villa, Rashford is keen on playing in the Champions League next season, and Villa’s current position in the league — seventh place, just outside the top five — means their qualification remains uncertain. Rashford, who still has three years left on his contract at Manchester United, is open to returning to Old Trafford, but he reportedly feels that his chances for regular first-team football are slim under current head coach Ruben Amorim. Rashford's exclusion from the first team under Amorim has played a significant role in his uncertainty about staying at United.
Should no agreement be reached with Villa, Rashford will return to Manchester United for preseason training in July. This situation mirrors last summer when Jadon Sancho, also sidelined by United's former manager Erik ten Hag, was included in the preseason squad before ultimately securing a move to Chelsea on deadline day. Rashford’s future remains in the balance as he weighs his options ahead of the upcoming season.
