Giancarlo Gallifuoco Linked to Persib Bandung Amid Malaysia National Team Naturalization Plans

Giancarlo Gallifuoco, a potential naturalized player for the Malaysian national football team, is reportedly on the radar of Persib Bandung ahead of the summer 2025 transfer window. The 31-year-old central defender, who stands at 187 cm, has garnered attention from several clubs, including Persib Bandung, Johor DarulTa’zim, and Hanoi FC. His potential move to Persib is not surprising, given his previous success under Persib’s coach BojanHodak during their time together at Kuala Lumpur City FC.
Gallifuoco had an impressive stint at Kuala Lumpur City FC from 2021 to 2023, helping the team reach the final of the AFC Cup in 2022. This experience, coupled with his familiarity with Coach Hodak, could make him an ideal addition to Persib Bandung’s squad. Alongside Gallifuoco, Persib has also been linked with another prominent Malaysian Super League defender, Jordi Amat, whose contract with Johor DarulTa'zim expires in May 2025. The prospect of both players joining Persib could create a domino effect, with Gallifuoco potentially moving to JDT to fulfill his goal of securing Malaysian citizenship.
Since late 2024, Gallifuoco has expressed his desire to represent Malaysia, having met the naturalization criteria after living in the country for four years. His connection to Malaysia has deepened, with his daughter born there and a growing affection for the country’s culture and cuisine. Gallifuoco’s aspirations to play for the national team are clear, and with Malaysia set to welcome additional naturalized players in June 2025, it’s possible that Gallifuoco will be one of them.
