Persib's Path to Liga 1 Glory: What They Need to Secure the Title on May 2nd

Persib Bandung has the opportunity to secure the Liga 1 2024-25 title on Friday, May 2, during their match against Malut United at GeloraKieRaha Stadium in Ternate. For Persib to clinch the championship, several key conditions must be met. These include the outcome of other matches in the league, especially involving their closest competitors, Dewa United and Persebaya. Persib is currently at the top of the standings with 64 points from 30 games, ahead of Dewa United and Persebaya, who have 53 and 52 points, respectively.
The first condition for Persib’s title hopes is that Persebaya must fail to win their match against Arema FC. If Persebaya loses, they will remain at 52 points, which means even if they win their remaining matches, they cannot surpass Persib’s current total of 64 points. If Persebaya draws with Arema, their maximum possible points will be 65, still short of the 67 points Persib would earn if they defeat Malut United.
The second condition is that Persib must secure a victory over Malut United. A win would bring them to 67 points, a total that both Dewa United and Persebaya cannot surpass, regardless of their performances in their remaining matches. If both of these conditions are met, Persib will officially be crowned the Liga 1 champions for the second consecutive season.
