Sky: Ten Hag Interested in Bayer Leverkusen Job, Potential Alonso Successor?
Sky Germany's latest report indicates that following Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso's announcement of his departure at the end of the season, the club's search for a new manager is underway. Leverkusen is currently in a crucial phase of finding Alonso's successor and has already held concrete discussions with several candidates.

Cesc Fàbregas, previously considered a target for Leverkusen, is increasingly likely to leave Como, with the player and his agents receiving relevant signals. RB Leipzig has also shown interest in him. However, Fàbregas remains Leverkusen's preferred candidate for now, and the club is awaiting Como's approval for his departure.

Notably, former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has also emerged as a potential candidate for Leverkusen, and the Dutch coach has publicly expressed his willingness to manage in the Bundesliga and succeed Xabi Alonso. It is reported that the 55-year-old Dutchman is enthusiastic about the job. He has been without a club since his dismissal from Manchester United in October 2024 and previously stated in interviews his intention to return to coaching this summer.

During his tenure at Manchester United, Ten Hag led the team to consecutive League Cup and FA Cup titles. Prior to his time at Old Trafford, he enjoyed a successful spell managing Dutch giants Ajax, where he won three Eredivisie titles, two Dutch Cups, and a Dutch Super Cup.

Furthermore, a significant advantage for Ten Hag is that he began his coaching career with Bayern Munich's reserve team, an experience that equipped him with fluent German.
