L'Équipe Exclusive: Liverpool Locks onto Right-Back Duo, Frimpong and Vanderson to Succeed Arnold?

French authoritative media outlet L'Équipe has exclusively revealed that as Liverpool's long-serving right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure this summer becomes increasingly certain, the Reds have identified Bayer Leverkusen's flying wing-back Jeremie Frimpong and AS Monaco's rising defensive star Vanderson as their primary targets for the right-back position.

It is reported that after Alexander-Arnold confirmed his departure from Anfield upon the expiry of his contract this season following two decades of service to the club, with a move to Real Madrid expected before the Club World Cup in June, Liverpool has actively been searching for his replacement.

L'Équipe points out that Liverpool has clearly defined two main recruitment directions. Frimpong, with his exceptional wing play and well-rounded attacking and defensive attributes, has long been on the Reds' long-term scouting list. His £30 million release clause is also considered highly cost-effective. Sources reveal that Liverpool particularly admires his versatility to operate both as a full-back and provide assistance in more advanced areas.

Meanwhile, Brazilian right-back Vanderson, who has been with Monaco for three and a half seasons, has also entered Liverpool's radar. L'Équipe states that Monaco would allow Vanderson to leave this summer if a suitable offer arrives. However, with Monaco having secured Champions League qualification for next season, they are not in a hurry to sell the 23-year-old key player at a low price. Vanderson's contract with Monaco runs until June 2028, and he has previously been linked with Tottenham Hotspur. This season, he has made 40 appearances for Monaco, contributing 2 goals and 5 assists, with a Transfermarkt valuation of €20 million.
