Ciro Alves Misses Farewell Matches as Persib’s Appeal Fails
Ciro Alves, the Brazilian winger of Persib Bandung, is set to miss the final two matches of the Liga 1 2024 season after the appeal against his red card was rejected by the PSSI Disciplinary Committee. The suspension stems from a red card incident during Persib’s defeat to Malut United in week 31. This decision leaves Alves unable to take part in what was supposed to be his farewell games, adding a disappointing twist to the end of his tenure with the club.
Alves, who joined Persib in 2022, had hoped to close out the season on a high note after helping the team secure the Liga 1 title. His absence not only affects the squad’s final push but also ends his personal campaign prematurely, disrupting his pursuit of individual accolades such as the top assist award and Player of the Season honors. The situation is especially disheartening for the 36-year-old, who had aimed to deliver a memorable on-field farewell to the supporters.
While Persib still has matches against Persita Tangerang and Persis Solo remaining, they will proceed without one of their key veterans. Speculation about Alves’s future has intensified, with rumors suggesting a potential move to Malut United next season.
