Shayne Pattynama Set to Join Buriram United
Shayne Pattynama, the Indonesian national team's left-back, is on the verge of joining Thai football powerhouse Buriram United, following reports on May 18, 2025. The 26-year-old is expected to fill the ASEAN player quota at the club, which is a dominant force in Thailand's top league. This comes after Pattynama's departure from KAS Eupen, a Belgian second-tier club, on May 8, 2025. His contract termination with KAS Eupen marks the end of a short stint where he played 17 matches since joining in February 2024, but couldn't help the team secure promotion to the top tier of Belgian football.

Buriram United has been the reigning champion of the Thai League since the 2021/2022 season, making them an ideal destination for Pattynama's next career move. The club has been looking to strengthen their defense, especially after rumors surfaced that Jefferson Tabinas could be leaving the club by the end of the season. Thanks to the flexibility in the Thai League's regulations regarding ASEAN players, Buriram United has successfully signed Pattynama, despite interest from other clubs, including some in Indonesia's BRI Liga 1.

Once confirmed, Pattynama will become the fifth Indonesian player to play in Thailand, joining the ranks of Asnawi Mangkualam, Pratama Arhan, Ronaldo Kwateh, and Meshaal Hamzah. This move represents another milestone in his career, as he transitions from Belgium to one of Southeast Asia's most competitive leagues.
