Barcelona Plans Three-Year Deal to Secure Frenkie de Jong’s Future Until 2028
Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona appears to be stabilizing after a turbulent period marked by injuries and uncertainty. Following a strong comeback last season where he proved his value to both the club and fans, the midfielder is now set to sign a three-year contract extension that would keep him at Camp Nou until 2028, when he turns 31.
The Dutch international is reportedly willing to accept a reduced salary under the new deal, which also includes performance-related clauses that could see the agreement extended until 2029. His resurgence and consistent form in the latter part of the season have convinced the club to commit to him as a key part of their midfield plans going forward.
However, the finalization of the contract has been delayed due to complications involving de Jong’s potential departure from his current agent, Ali Dursun. Barcelona is expected to make an official offer once that situation is resolved, although the transition has proven more complex than initially anticipated.
This contract extension is seen as a balanced move that benefits both sides. Barcelona retains one of their core players for what could be his peak years, while de Jong gains financial security and recognition. At the same time, the structure of the deal offers him flexibility should he decide to seek a new challenge in the near future.
