Fenerbahce Appoints Domenico Tedesco as New Head Coach

Fenerbahce officially named Domenico Tedesco as their new head coach following the departure of Jose Mourinho in late August. The appointment ends weeks of speculation over the club’s managerial vacancy after their failure to qualify for the Champions League, losing narrowly to Benfica in the play-off round.
Several high-profile names were linked with the role, including Luciano Spalletti, who declined the offer, and Ange Postecoglou, who chose to remain at Nottingham Forest. Sergio Conceicao was also considered but ultimately overlooked, leaving Tedesco as the preferred choice.
At 40, Tedesco brings a diverse coaching background, having managed Schalke, Spartak Moscow, and RB Leipzig, as well as leading Belgium’s national team. Despite a brief tenure at the international level, his reputation for tactical acumen and player development convinced Fenerbahce’s management to hand him the reins.
The club also confirmed that former captain Gokhan Gonlu will serve as assistant manager on a two-year contract. With this new leadership, Fenerbahce hopes to reignite their domestic ambitions and strengthen their presence on the European stage.
