AC Milan and Inter Revise San Siro Plans, Preserve Historic Stadium

AC Milan and Inter Milan have submitted a revised proposal for the San Siro stadium to the Milan City Council, opting not to demolish the historic venue. Instead, their plan focuses on building a new stadium nearby while retaining the existing structure.
Although the clubs are ready to present detailed plans, crucial information such as designs and full specifications for the new facilities is still missing. This gap has raised concerns among project opponents, including Milan’s Deputy Mayor, Anna Scavuzzo, who has met with them to discuss the issues.
The lack of complete documentation complicates the council’s ability to evaluate the proposal and is likely to prolong the approval process. The project is seen as vital for both clubs, enabling them to increase revenue and remain competitive with Europe’s elite teams.
Despite the importance of the initiative, challenges remain. AC Milan and Inter must convince the city council that their plan aligns with Milan’s long-term urban strategy, highlighting the complexity and lengthy negotiations involved in stadium developments in Italy.
