Fermin Lopez Committed to Barcelona Despite Chelsea Interest

Fermin Lopez has affirmed his commitment to Barcelona following Chelsea’s reported interest in signing him during the summer transfer window. The 22-year-old starred in Barcelona’s 6-0 demolition of Valencia, scoring twice and helping his team dominate possession and create numerous scoring opportunities.

Lopez stated that he has never doubted his desire to remain at the club and is focused on building a long-term future with Barcelona. He avoided discussing transfer rumors, emphasizing that his priority is to continue developing and contributing to the team.

Chelsea reportedly made a €40 million offer for Lopez, which Barcelona rejected, viewing him as part of their long-term plans. The Catalan club has indicated they might consider negotiations only if the London side is willing to meet a €90 million valuation.

Lopez was encouraged to stay by senior teammates including Ter Stegen, Araujo, and Pedri, who highlighted his importance to the squad. While he remains committed, he faces competition for a starting spot amid a crowded attacking midfield featuring players like Dani Olmo, Raphinha, Gavi, and Marcus Rashford. His focus now shifts to upcoming fixtures against Newcastle in the Champions League and Getafe in La Liga.
