Manchester United Eyes January Move for Atletico’s Conor Gallagher

Manchester United is reportedly preparing a significant bid to acquire midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid in the upcoming January transfer window. The Red Devils aim to strengthen their midfield depth to complement Ruben Amorim’s squad after showing signs of improvement with three consecutive wins following a slow start to the season.
Gallagher has struggled for regular playing time at Atletico, making only nine appearances this season without completing a full match. His limited minutes have fueled speculation that he may seek a move to secure consistent playing time ahead of the World Cup, where he hopes to feature for the England national team. United sees this as an opportunity to bolster their midfield options mid-season.
Previously, Manchester United attempted to bring Gallagher on loan during the summer, but Atletico only considered a permanent transfer at the time. However, the situation could change in January, with a loan move becoming a realistic option. The permanent transfer fee is estimated at around £35 million, though it remains uncertain whether United would commit to that figure.
Other clubs, including Liverpool, are reportedly monitoring Gallagher’s situation and could potentially bid around €60 million, creating a competitive market for the midfielder. Atletico’s management and Diego Simeone are expected to resist selling unless an exceptional offer is made, while Manchester United’s coaching staff believes Gallagher could fit seamlessly into their high-intensity style of play.
